With the world’s population growth, increased average age and decreased death rates, people are now living longer and becoming increasingly susceptible to non-communicable diseases, including musculoskeletal disorders. A recent study of the Global Burden of Disease estimated that musculoskeletal disorders accounted for 21.3% of the number of years lived with disability, globally. Such disorders include osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, low back pain and neck pain as well as a number of other musculoskeletal disorders.
